The recession of Guardiola

first_imgSince raising the Champions League in 2011 against Manchester United in Wembley (3-1), Pep Guardiola (49 years old) has not played a European Cup final again. And that which has led to Bayern (took over the Bavarian team after winning the title in 2013) and Manchester City, which arrived in 2016 and has won laurels in the Premier, but not in Europe.Until now, Pep has directed 52 matches belonging to the last three rounds of the Champions League (eighth, fourth and semifinals): won 27 (51.93%), drew 13 (25%) and lost 12 (23.07). The balance by qualifiers does not punish him: out of 26 qualifiers he was eight (30.77%). But since he left Barça, his numbers do not shine. In the first (2016-17), the Monaco of Mbappé and Falcao had struck him in the round of 16. Of the ten qualifying matches with the citizen, has won six (60%), lost four and, strikingly, did not draw any. Pep is shielded in his philosophy: “I didn’t come here to win the Champions League. Honestly, I came to play as I want my team to play, as it has played the last 20 months, ”he said in 2019 before measuring himself to Tottenham in the quarterfinals lap match.
